“Voluntary irradiation of the brain with microwaves from a mobile phone is the largest biological experiment on a human being.” (Swedish neurosurgeon professor Lafe Salford).
The first mobile phones appeared 20 years ago in Sweden. And immediately began to conquer the world in giant steps. Every year happy owners of “mobile phones” became more and more. And now, in our days, a decent part of the population, including the author of these lines, and I am sure that my reader too, simply can not live without mobile communication. Moreover, for some remote regions in a number of countries, this is the only opportunity for communication with the world. The mobile phone is a reliable assistant in our everyday affairs, allows you to quickly get the information you need and, of course, provides just endless possibilities of communication.
However, like any other thing in our world, cell phones have the reverse side of the coin … From the moment of their appearance to the present day, scientists do not stop disputes about the dangers of mobile phones on our health. A huge number of scientists say that when using mobile communication, the risk of developing brain and ear tumors increases, asthma and eczema may develop, and there is also a possibility of destruction of blood cells. Scientists express such fears on the basis of the results of numerous experiments that have been conducted both in animals and in humans.
So, Scottish scientist William Stewart conducted his experiments on earthworms. The results were impressive, it turned out that under the radiation of mobile phones worms changed the structure of the protein. “Live tissue is simply roasted in the manner of a piece of meat in a microwave oven,” Stewart says.
In Russia, similar studies were conducted at the Moscow Institute of Biophysics. Subjects were ordinary frogs, which were placed in a high-frequency electromagnetic field for 5-10 minutes. Even with very low irradiation, every second frog had a heart failure, while the rest of the frog decreased its frequency.
In the summer of 2003, Swedish scientists said, while conducting similar experiments on rats, that mobile radiation leads to irreversible effects in the rat brain. Animals were exposed to irradiation with mobile phones for two hours. And 50 days after that, the scientists examined their brains with a microscope and found numerous vascular lesions and foci of dead neurons. The more mobile radiation was, the more serious the damage. The conclusions of the scientists are pessimistic: “It is possible that mobile phones have exactly the same effect on the human brain, because in its structure it is similar to the brain of rats. And if our assumptions are confirmed, today’s youth, who are very intensively using cell phones, will face Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases already at the age of Christ. ”
Finnish scientists conducted their experiments on the living human brain. And their experiments showed that mobile radiation strongly affects the walls of blood vessels, resulting in the brain getting harmful substances that can cause already irreversible changes.
What do officials in this country think about this issue? So, the chief state sanitary doctor of Russia Gennady Onishchenko does not deny the harmful impact of mobile phones on human health. Here are his words: “… in this case there is a certain justified alarm, since the radiation that occurs as a result of the use of mobile phones has a certain harmful effect.” Also Gennady Onishchenko mentioned such a fact that there is even information about the appearance of oncological diseases from mobile radiation. He also specified that the damage from the phone depends on its frequency response and security, and also noted that in our country the sanitary standards for mobile phones are “much tougher than the western ones”.
And here are some interesting statistics.Russian scientists say that people react differently to radiation from cellular phones: for example, 15% of users do not notice it at all, 70% have a protective mechanism that reduces the negative consequences, but the remaining 15% are very sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. Even after one small conversation on the cell phone, fatigue increases and sleep is disturbed, and itching, burning, sudden pressure drops and headache can also occur. So, it turns out, what we pay for using this archival thing (except, of course, the money itself for payment of communication) is our health.
Well, finally, I want to bring just a shocking case of the influence of a mobile phone on health! This incident occurred in 2005 in the Californian town of Sherman Oaks. Then the 10-year-old boy almost burned alive when a cell phone exploded in his pocket (!). As a result, this gift of his caring mother, turned for him serious injuries – burns of the legs and inguinal area, but he was quickly taken to the hospital, where they provided first aid. By the way, according to his mother’s statement, the phone was completely new and belonged to a very well-known brand – Motorola.
Thus, the rapid development of the mobile market has led to a state of affairs in which we can not simply refuse a cell phone because it has become very firmly in our lives, and I very much doubt that the results of mobile radiation research will be able to stop someone from buying and using a mobile phone. However, I want to give a couple of useful tips how to minimize the damage from the phone:
· If possible, talk on the cellular for no more than three minutes at intervals of 15 minutes or use the headset
· The mobile should be kept away from the body and certainly not worn around the neck as a pendant.
I am sure that the debate in scientific circles will continue for more than one year, and we will not get a definitive answer to the question “Are mobile phones harmful” soon.
